One of the great aspects of doing what we do is getting out and about to visit our members and clients. These appointments take us all over the country! So, we pulled together some highlights from the GO Salary team and plonked them here. Maybe it will give you some suggestions on your next travels!
The Brew, 67 Coleman Street, Wagga Wagga, NSW
- Visited by: Ben
- Reason for visit: Brunch
- Ben says:
“I was in the Wagga region and stumbled across this cafe when driving around. What a gem! The staff are lovely and the menu is a great mix of classics and inventive options. Check out the smashed avocado which is accompanied by crispy Vegemite chips, a couple of poached eggs, and a Vegemite creme fraiche! I also had a refreshing homemade drink which featured lavendar syrup and blueberries. The area out the back is glorious on a sunny day.”
Just, Loved Creative & Studio Cafe, 8 Hunter Drive, Blackburn South (Melbourne), VIC
- Visited by: Valerie
- Reason for visit: Lunch
- Valerie says:
“Recently, I went to a cute little cafe in Blackburn, Melbourne. It is called Just, Loved Creative Studio & Cafe. They have an interesting menu with Asian influence. There are Thai, Korean and Japanese fusion options available on the menu. I had the creamy miso udon with bulgogi beef, combining flavours of butter, miso and soy – delicious and umami. Prawn fusion pasta also deserves a mention, with succulent prawns tossed in a spicy aromatic sauce. I also tried the Ais Kacang cake which is inspired by the Malaysian dessert Ice Kacang. It is a light, delicate rose sponge cake layered with creamed corn and roasted peanuts, plus hidden gems of atapchi (palm seeds) within the layers.”
Joe Macguires Pub, 264 Peel Street, Tamworth, NSW
- Visited by: Jim
- Reason for visit: Dinner
- Jim says:
“After a big workday, a nice evening meal is always welcomed. I’m a regular visitor to Tamworth and I always look forward to having a meal at Joe Maguires Pub. You will always receive a friendly “G’day” from staff and their menu has a good range of your typical country pub favourites. One of my favourites is the crumbed lamb cutlets wtih a creamy mash, fresh green vegetables and gravy. You just can’t beat lamb from the country. The rissoles and mash are also worth trying. While you’re there, ask about Joe’s ‘mates rates’ for a little discount to make it all a bit sweeter.”
Chicken Treat, The Sands Shopping Centre, Mandurah, WA
- Visited by: Jeremy
- Reason for visit: Dinner
- Jeremy says:
“Okay, so I know I’m not really picking a hidden gem here, but Chicken Treat was just that – a treat. Visiting from the east coast, I’d heard nothing but good stories about this WA icon, so I had to give it a go. I was not disappointed. The gravy was incredible and there was a fair bit of dunking involved. It’s clearly popular with the locals as it was very busy for an early midweek dinner. They had quite the collection of condiments and I had to have another dip at the BBQ cola sauce. I’m keen to try the other selections when next in town.”
